The Association for the Study of Sociology of Memory and Culture is a non-profit foundation which was established by a group of academics, master and PHD students from Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts, Sociology Department. The aim of the association is to perform studies on the memory of different social groups and trauma cases in recent Turkish history, which are mainly excluded from academic discussions, and to share the results with the public and NGOs. Until today, we had worked on different subjects, from memory of military coup of 12th September and OHAL (special State of Emergency regime in Turkey during 90’s), to the memory of the assassination of Hrant Dink. Beside these researches, we’ve supported various events on the normalization process of Turkey and Armenia, and art projects about the Armenian heritage in Anatolia. Our last and ongoing research is about the memories of 4th generation Armenian youth in Armenia, Turkey and Diaspora. Using the valuable data we obtain, we are aiming to discover ways for a possible reconciliation between Armanian people and Turks.
